What I Wore In Triple-Digit Heat

NEW WIW triple digit heat

It is so hot here. I live in a climate of extremes. In December and January have have stretches of single-digit or negative digit weather, and in July and August it gets above 100. We definitely have all the seasons here, for better or worse.

We are currently in the hotter than Hades portion of the year, and it’s even harder to have enough interesting elements to make an outfit visually satisfying, but I’m trying.

I’m dying to get outside and plant some more flowers, even though it is so hot. I crave time in the yard. We have an acre, so there is always room for more flowers. Today I have a lot to get done on the blog, so I’m using garden time tomorrow as my carrot to work efficiently. Tee similar here and here. Denim bermudas  similar here, here. Sandals similar here, here and here. Sunglasses similar here, here and these are only $12! The bracelet is actually a necklace I wrapped a bunch of times around my wrist. Similar here.

Pink, white and blue is one of my favorite combos. I’m feeling classic today in a navy boat neck tee and crisp white shorts, and bringing some interest with a punch of pink in my sandals, necklace and lips. Tee similar here and here. Shorts – they are more like juniors sizing and very stretchy. I’m wearing a size large. Sandals similar here, here and here.

How do you reward yourself for getting a job done? I reward myself with more work! Yesterday I got ahead on my blog, so today I get to work in my gardens! I’ve been dying to get outside in the dirt all week. Tomorrow I’ll be at a swim meet most of the day, so this is my chance. Today I followed my natural beauty routine and am wearing just bb cream for the sunscreen, and a lighter lip color. Technical tee similar here. Shorts here.

My husband and I go out on a date at least twice a month, more often if we can find a sitter. We are headed to dinner and then to see Wonder Woman. I love to dress up for dates. This is a simple t-shirt dress that I made edgier with stabby earrings, silver aviators, a silver beaded bracelet and woven wedges. I’m very comfortable, but feel special for a date night. On a weekday with the kids I’d wear this dress with flat sandals. Dress similar here, here, here. Wedges similar here, here, and here. Sunglasses here, here and these are only $12!

I help in the nurseries at church, so I need to be comfortable enough to walk the halls quite a bit, hold toddlers, get down in the floor and play, and still look nice. I came home pretty wrinkled today, but I was very comfortable in a knit tee, a stretchy pencil skirt and low-heeled sandals. Striped tee similar here. Pencil skirt similar here, here and here. Heels similar here, here and here. Sunglasses here, here and these are only $12! Bracelets similar here and here.

I dress to channel the energy I need. I’ve got to have a hard conversation with a contractor who has an explosive temper today, and then hopefully never have contact again. I’m channeling extra fierce vibes with an edgier outfit. Snake skin tee and sandals, destroyed denim and stabby jewelry should do the trick. Men often think they can intimidate me because I’m a woman, and let me tell you, it’s never happened yet. Not once. Tee similar here and here. Denim bermudas similar here, here. Sunglasses here, here and these are only $12! Necklace similar here. Sandals similar here and here.
