After a more colorful week last week, I reverted back to my typical black, white and blue. I don’t do it on purpose. Those are my neutrals. This week I made my first two videos for the blog EVER (this one with my full get ready routine and this one making restaurant guacamole in 2 minutes). It was a huge learning curve, and took way longer than it should have, but I learned a lot! My husband also got back from an 11-day work trip, so that is always a happy day.
I went on the first grade field trip with my daughter’s class. I’ve got my Sporty Spice mom outfit on. I always wear a bold color on field trips so my group can find me if we get separated. We had a little chat about my jacket color and I pointed out that no one else there was wearing this color. It really does help. That’s my little girl in the picture mesmerized by the fish. Jacket Abercrombie (I painted the zipper) similar here, tee (similar here, here and here) and earrings Banana Republic, jeans Express, sneakers Steve Madden (similar here, here and here), necklace Stella and Dot.
I spent my day trying to edit a video for my blog. I’ve never done it before and swore I’d never do it again (so I did it the very next day). I was so frustrated. I finally went and took my picture right before bed. A friend sent me these earrings, and I love them! Shirt U.S. Polo Association (similar here), jeans Express, sandals Kenneth Cole (similar here and here), necklace Nordstrom Rack (similar here and here), earrings (similar here).
Today was my first day of yard work this year and I was so excited! I need to be in the sun and get my hands in the dirt. We have nearly an acre, and I’ve designed and landscaped most of it myself. I love it. This is my Finding Neverland t-shirt from when we saw the play in NYC. My SIL said my hair looks just like this. She thought it was Tinkerbell, but it’s Peter Pan 🙂 These red sneakers faded after a lot of wear, so now I wear them when I do light yard work, but not shoveling because the sole isn’t sturdy enough to kick a shovel. I’m wearing more makeup than I would for yard work bc this morning I filmed myself getting ready for Monday’s blog post. Tee similar here, jeans Express, slip on sneakers Naturalizer (similar here and here)
This is what I wore to church on Sunday. This is a LOT of pattern for me. A lot. I’m not sure if I’m wearing the dress or the dress is wearing me. I’ve never worn this much pattern in my life, and never a tiger stripe. The only animal print I usually wear is snake skin. I have to be in the right mood for it. I tried to minimize the movement with very simple necklace, earrings and shoes. Dress Nicole Miller (nothing out there like this right now, but if you want stripes and color, this one is similar, Â this one is cool, or a more toned down version here, and a solid blue here), earrings (similar here), necklace Banana Republic (similar here and here), shoes Calvin Klein (similar here).
Here is the outfit I wore in the video about how I get dressed. I’m wearing a simple t-shirt with black ankle pants and flats, but I still look very put together. Tee Loft (similar here), pants Banana Republic, flats Express (similar here, here and here), small necklace Bling, larger necklace Argento Vivo.
Most of my wardrobe is stripes or solids, but sometimes I really crave pattern. I realize these are still stripes, but they’re *crazy* stripes. It’s hard to find patterns in bold colors, and when I do, they can be way too much. Still, I have pattern envy right now when all these spring florals are coming out. I look and feel ridiculous in florals though. Cardi Banana Republic, top and jeans Express, flats J. Crew (similar here and here and I really love these!!), necklace  and earrings Bling.
My friend has been spoiling me! Check out this cool manicure she gave me!! That winter on the cusp of spring look. I love it!
