This week I was in the freezing cold snow half the time and in the gorgeous sunny desert for the rest. It was so nice to get out of sweaters and boots, and even better to spend three days with my friend!
As my husband said this morning, “Back to black!” I am mentally, emotionally and physically exhausted between the clutter purging, saying goodbye to my sister-in-law who is moving across the country, and staying a week ahead on the blog due to upcoming obligations. Part of my brain says, “This outfit isn’t bright enough or visually appealing for Instagram and the blog. ” But the truth is, I don’t care. This is what I needed to wear today, and I’m not going to ignore that. So too bad Instagram. This is what you get. And the whole point of this part of the blog is to show you what I really wear every day, whether it’s photographically appealing or not. No lies. I didn’t wear heels to declutter, and today I can’t handle wearing a bunch of color. Also, let’s talk about these boots. I painted the toe blue, so I can’t direct you to the exact boots, or even anything similar, but if you are desiring something similar, you could do the same. I found these boots that are very similar. Sweater Ann Taylor (similar here), jeans Express, boots L.K. Bennett, earrings Bling, socks (could you die at the Frenchness?) Banana Republic.
Today I’m somewhere sunny and 75! For Christmas my husband gifted me a trip to go visit my friend who moved to California. We stayed in La Quinta, near Palm Springs. It got cooler as the sun went down so I put jeans under my dress and added a jacket. Speaking of the jacket, I painted all the hardware silver instead of gold. It needs another coat, but that will have to happen on another day. Doesn’t it look better with silver hardware? Jacket J. Crew (sold out in navy but similar here, here and here), dress Banana Republic (I bought three of this dress last summer, and they are back in new colors here and here!), jeans Express, sandals BCBGeneration (similar here and here), necklace Banana Republic (similar here), purse Kate Spade similar here).
Day two of my girls weekend getaway. When we were neighbors we’d get away for a weekend in Park City and shop. Shopping in sunny Palm Springs is so much more fun! Jacket J. Crew (sold out in navy but similar here, here and here), top poshmark (this one and this one are cute and interesting), jeans Express, sandals Tory Burch (similar here, here and here), earrings Banana Republic, necklace Banana Republic (similar here), sunglasses Michael Kors (similar here and here), purse Kate Spade.
I had such a great time with my friend. She’s a 2/3 and we bought her a new T2 core wardrobe. That was the goal this weekend. She has some fabulous pieces and new ideas of how to bring her outfits together simply and comfortably. Today we celebrated by staying by the pool. Dress (same dress with coral stripes instead) and scarf Banana Republic, sandals Tory Burch (similar here, here and here), bag Longchamp (similar here), tankini Ralph Lauren (This one is available at the outlet. One-piece version here and bikini version here). Sunglasses Michael Kors (similar here and here)
I landed in a snow storm late last night after my flight was delayed. The turbulence made it feel like we were on the Tower of Terror (which I hate). I had to drive super slow in this tiny rental car (long story) that isn’t meant to handle snow, got home super late, my kids had no school today, and I am so tired. And I have a sinus infection. So color be gone! I can’t! I needed this column of navy today. I got this scarf on our trip to Scotland last year. It was the only Type 4-ish one I could find, but I really like it. Turtleneck Cable and Gauge (similar here), jeans Express, boots L.K. Bennett (these boots that are very similar, and you could paint the toe like I did), earrings Banana Republic, coat J. Crew
