What I Wore 3-29-17

NEW WIW

Spring break started this week, so it’s been busier than usual with six kids home. We decided not to travel this week because we have a 2-week family vacation coming up in 2 months.

It was another beautiful spring day before a storm rolled in that night. I think I might love this pink even more than red, which has been my go-to color after blue. Before Dressing Your Truth, I didn’t like pink very much, but I just needed the right pink. Punch-you-in-the-face pink is my color :). Sweater (I love this tunic one and this one) and jacket (this one is nearly identical to mine and very affordable! And this one has a hood. This one has a hood and silver hardware. Identical to the black one I’m wearing below) J. Crew, jeans (similar here, here, here and here) and earrings Express (similar here), flats Rebecca Minkoff (similar here), necklace Rivka Friedman (smaller, similar version here), purse Michael Kors (similar here).

Once upon a time I went into IFA to buy some chicken feed and came out with a pair of hot pink rain boots as well. My husband shook his head in dismay. It’s not safe to send me ANYWHERE. Sweater Banana Republic (great option here), jacket BCBGeneration,  jeans Express, boots farm supply store (similar here, here and here), earrings House of Harlow (similar here), necklace Bling. Shopping mojo, mine. I tried to get pictures of the back of my sweater. It buttons up the back, and I love that detail. Use your imagination bc the pictures are terrible.

Off to dinner with my husband and some people from work and their spouses. I had no idea what others would be wearing. I figured whether they were in jeans or dresses, I was good. It turned out I was the most dressed up person there, but I would always rather be overdressed than underdressed. Besides, this is just a sweater and ankle pants. I wore it with flats earlier in the day. The heels and necklace make me look much more dressed up than I was. Sweater Ann Taylor (similar here, half sleeve version here), ankle pants (more options here and here) and earrings Banana Republic, trench Burberry (similar here, here,  here, here and here), heels Louise et Cie (more options here, here, here), necklace Rivka Friedman (smaller, similar versions here.

Day time outfit: it was a glorious, sunny spring day and I headed back outside to work on my yard. I have mulch to spread and strawberries to plant. I put my yard work shoes on outside bc they are not clean enough to wear inside. Just mascara and lipstick today and I ran my fingers through my hair. Night time outfit: We had play tickets tonight. I spent the day digging holes and spreading mulch and I was SO TIRED, but I managed to stay awake through the whole thing! I’ve decided that black ankle pants are definitely a staple in my wardrobe, and I particularly love these. Trench Burberry (similar here, here,  here, here and here), blouse Express, ankle pants Banana Republic, flats Nine West, earrings Paparazzi, necklace Kendra Scott (similar here).

Twice a year church is cancelled and we have special meetings broadcast on TV and the internet. We had a relaxing Sunday at home listening to some truly inspired messages. Sweatshirt Mindy Mae’s Market, jeans Express, moccasin slippers Bearpaw (order up a size. I wear a 6, and the 7 is perfect, even four months later after daily wear)

It’s officially spring break (help me) and this morning we worked in the gardens. Our strawberry beds were taken over by orchard grass, so we dug everything up, saved the remaining strawberry plants, got all the grass roots out, leveled the soil, put three layers of cardboard on top, added new soil and planted 50 new strawberry plants. We will do the other two beds and 50 more plants a different day. I also cut back all the blackberry and raspberry bushes and burned all the old canes. To reward the kids for all their help, we went to a movie and then out to dinner. This was a shower and get ready in 20 minutes day so we could make it to the movie, so minimal makeup. Jacket (this one is nearly identical to mine and very affordable! And this one has a hood. This one has a hood and silver hardware. Identical to the black one I’m wearing above) and tee J. Crew (similar tee here and here), jeans Express, shoes Toms, scarf Goody (as in the hair accessories) because I didn’t have time to wash or even straighten my hair.

Spring break continues. I have to write this post, so no garden work. My kids are genuinely disappointed, but the next two days promise to be the nicest weather of the week, so we will go out and dig then. If I get done early we might go to another movie today. Tee J. Crew, jacket J. Crew (this one is nearly identical to mine and very affordable! And this one has a hood. This one has a hood and silver hardware. Identical to the black one I’m wearing above) jeans Express, shoes Sperry (that I dyed, but similar here and here), necklace 2bandits (similar here).

Are you starting to see that even my fancy outfits aren’t fancy? A turtleneck and ankle pants, a button up and ankle pants. My casual outfits are usually t-shirts or sweaters and jeans, but I choose cute ones that fit me nicely.
